Altar servers across the Archdiocese of Toronto were honoured at regional celebrations throughout the month of October. Organized each year by local Serra Clubs, the awards provide an opportunity to highlight and thank young people who have served at Mass faithfully over so many years.

Nominated by their pastor and formally recognized by the regional bishop, the celebrations affirm and support the important role altar servers play in the celebration of the sacraments in parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Toronto.

Photos below highlight the Oct. 25 ceremony to honour servers from the Central Pastoral Region, held at St. Paul’s Basilica in Toronto, with Bishop Robert Kasun presiding. A similar ceremony was held the same day at Our Lady of the Airways with Bishop Ivan Camilleri presiding at Mass to recognize altar servers from the Western Pastoral Region. On Oct. 11, Bishop Vincent Nguyen honoured servers from the Eastern Pastoral Region at Scarborough’s St. Boniface Parish while Bishop John Boissonneau presided at a Mass held on October 11 at St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Woodbridge to honour altar servers from the Northern Pastoral Region.

Congratulations to all those honoured and special thanks to the Greater Toronto Area Serra Clubs for their organization of these special celebrations. To learn more about Serra International, a lay movement dedicated to praying for and supporting vocations, click here.
